We’ve all made mistakes when painting furniture! Maybe you forgot to sand, applied the paint too thickly, or maybe you HATE the color you chose! Whatever your reason might be, I think everyone should learn how to remove paint from furniture! Do you?
You’ll Need The Following Items:
1. Sand Paper (fine and coarse)
2.Putty Knife
3. Heavy Duty Paint Remover
Before you begin, remove any and all hardware from your furniture. Don’t forget about your door hinges either, I almost did! After the hardware is removed, sand your entire piece of furniture with a few sheets of your coarse sandpaper. If you give your furniture a good sanding, it helps the paint remover really get down in there and lift up all the paint!
Paint a thick layer of your paint remover across your furniture. Apply the remover as thickly as possible, because it truly isn’t possible to use too much! Apply paint remover to every surface where you want paint removed from. Let your paint thinner soak into the furniture for a few hours before you begin removing the paint.
Starting gently, use your putty knife to begin scraping away the paint in small, even sections. You’ll start to notice the paint and varnish being removed. Make sure to clean up any mess with pieces of scrap cloth, or you’ll be left with a huge disaster later..trust me! Let your furniture dry for 24 hours, and then throughly sand it with a sheet of fine sandpaper.
Guess what? It’s now ready for a brand new coat of paint!
