It can be hard to keep a house decluttered and organized when you’re so busy with daily life! Doesn’t it seem like our houses are only clean for a moment before our kids just destroy all of our hard work? I know it can be difficult for moms to stay decluttered and organized, but I think these decluttering tips for busy Moms will help!
Tip #1
Work in baby steps! It can be overwhelming to tackle everything that needs to be decluttered at once. Instead, work in small spaces like a drawer, a shelf, or a closet at a time.
Tip #2
It can be difficult to make time to declutter! This year, get decluttered by setting aside “decluttering sessions” a few times a month. All you need is a few hours here and there to get your home completely decluttered and completely organized like you need it to be!
Tip #3
Of course, the best way to declutter a busy household is to stop buying new items! Next time you are at Target, or at the mall, ask yourself if you really need it before swiping your card. Not only will your wallet feel better, but so will your closet space!
Tip #4
Get the help of your whole family! It may be hard to convince your kids (and maybe even your husband) to get on board, but teaching your kids good organization habits now can only benefit them (and you) over the long run!
Tip #5
Make a rule in your household that nothing is allowed to go on the floor! When you keep items off of the floor in your home, it’ll create the appearance of a less cluttered space. You’ll love not stepping over piles of junk!
Tip #6
It can be hard to declutter due to any emotional attachment you have with the item. If you want to declutter, but don’t know if you can get rid of your special items, create an “I’m Not Sure” box. Toss everything in here that you may not be able to get rid of, and revisit it to see how you feel in day or two!
Tip #7
It can be hard, but ask yourself if it’s time to declutter all of your memories! Of course, you don’t actually have to get rid of them, but stash away any vacation souvineers or baby clothes in corresponding boxes. You’ll have more room when you box up and stash away everything you aren’t using on a daily basis.
Tip #8
Is your bathroom kind of cluttered like mine? And by cluttered I mean: are there half-empty bottles of lotions and shampoos everywhere? Make your bathroom a relaxing place to be by getting rid of any shampoos or lotions that you aren’t using on a day-to-day basis.
Tip #9
Are you constantly overwhelmed by piling-up laundry? Prevent the dreaded pile by developing your own (specialized) laundry routine. Everyone should have a day of the week when you tackle dirty clothing! If you tackle laundry every Wednesday, you’ll have more time throughout the week for other chores and projects.
Tip #10
Everything should have a place, and everything should be in it’s place! While decluttering, give a space to every item you have. This will keep items from getting lost, and clutter from building up on the random surfaces across your home.
