Silhouette Blades can get expensive when you have to buy tons of them; which is why I’m going to teach you how to get the longest life possible out of your expensive blades. If you start caring for them right off the bat, they’ll last way longer than you ever thought possible. Here’s how I care for my silhouette blades.
Pssst….for an excellent deal on a NEW blade (whenever the time comes) head to Michaels!
Always Take Care
Before beginning, it should be mentioned how sharp a silhouette blade is. Handle with care because the blade will cut you, and no one likes an emergency trip to the doctor’s office!
Don’t Throw Them Just Anywhere
When not in use, make sure your blade is stored in the original packaging, or in the Cameo 3 storage space. Known as the “Blade Garage” the Cameo 3 storage space is a great way to keep all of your blades in storage, where they couldn’t be damaged.
Keeping It Clean
A hugely important part of caring for your silhouette blades is keeping them clean! Take a good look at the state of your silhouette blades; if you see pieces of paper or adhesive stuck to the blade, it’s definitely time for a good cleaning. To clean your blade, unscrew the cap (as seen below) and use a cotton ball to wipe off any paper and adhesive. Once you are done cleaning, screw the cap back on and place the blade in your Blade Garage! All silhouette blades can be cleaned, and all should be cleaned following a craft project.
